Flashcards Arabia

App Terms

Last updated

Sets play in the app, and downloaded sets keep playing offline. You pay once for each set, with nothing to renew, and Google Play handles payments and refunds.

1.About these terms

  • These terms cover the Flashcards Arabia app, run by Softest, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. “We” means Softest. “You” means the grown-up using the app.
  • Google Play’s terms of service also apply to the app and to purchases made through Google Play.
  • The app is made for grown-ups to use with young children. Buying, signing in, settings and help sit behind a grown-ups’ check.
  • You must be 18 or over to buy or sign in. Doing either confirms that you are, and that you agree to these terms.

2.What you get

  • The sets: the app plays digital flashcard sets for young children. Every card is in each language listed for its set, and in any language we add to it later. A language a set had when you got it stays.
  • Free sets: some sets are free. Every other set has a free preview of its first few cards.
  • The voices: cards play recordings of their words. A word without a recording yet plays no sound until it’s recorded. Family names you type aren’t spoken.

3.Buying sets

  • You buy sets in the app through Google Play, at the price it shows before you confirm.
  • Each set is bought once. Nothing renews.
  • Your purchases stay with your Google account. To restore them on another device with the same Google account: Grown-ups → Sets & purchases → Restore purchases.
  • If you’re signed in, they’re also added to your Flashcards Arabia account.
  • All sets: it includes every set on sale when you buy it, and every set we publish afterwards, for as long as we offer the service. New sets are added automatically. It’s one payment, not a subscription. Sets it gives you stay if we later stop selling them. If All sets is refunded, the sets it gave you leave your library, new ones included, and sets you bought separately stay.

4.Refunds

  • Google handles refunds for Google Play purchases under its own policies. Ask through your Google Play order history. If Google sends you to us, email hello@flashcardsarabia.com.
  • When a refund goes through, the set leaves your library. If you downloaded it, it’s removed from the device the next time the device connects.
  • Nothing in these terms affects your rights under consumer protection law.

5.Playing offline

  • A set downloads in full, with its size shown, before it plays. A set you buy downloads by itself.
  • Downloading needs internet. Downloaded sets keep playing offline, and update the next time you connect.
  • A downloaded set keeps playing on that device, with its pictures and audio, for as long as you keep it there.
  • When the device next connects, corrected cards and audio replace the old ones, and a set you no longer have, for example after a refund, is removed.
  • If you sign out, sets from your account stay on the device, locked until you sign in again.

6.Your licence

  • When you get a set, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your household’s own, non-commercial use.
  • You and the people you live with can use your sets on your devices. Please don’t share your account with people outside your household.
  • Apart from downloading sets to play in the app, don’t copy, record, download, resell, publish or redistribute the cards, pictures, words or audio. Don’t use them for paid teaching, or in a nursery or school, without our written permission.
  • We, and our licensors, keep all rights in the app and the sets. The licence doesn’t give you ownership of any content.

7.Using the app fairly

Please don’t:

  • try to get around the app’s sign-in, purchase or access checks;
  • copy or extract its content with automated tools;
  • interfere with the app, or reverse engineer it;
  • use it for anything unlawful.

8.Your family on the cards

  • Before you add any family names or photos, you confirm that you’re the child’s parent or legal guardian, and that anyone else pictured has agreed.
  • You keep all rights in your photos. You allow us to store them and show them to you, only to personalise your own cards, until you delete them.
  • Please don’t add anything unlawful, offensive, or that isn’t yours to share.

9.Your account

  • Your Flashcards Arabia account works across your devices.
  • You can delete it at any time: Grown-ups → Account → Delete account. We delete your family’s names and photos, your saved progress and your sign-in details, as our privacy notice describes.
  • Sets linked only to your Flashcards Arabia account are removed. Sets bought with your Google account can still be restored.
  • We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the law or the situation prevents it, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.

10.Changes to the app

  • The app may sometimes be unavailable, for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
  • We may improve or change features over time. We won’t remove the cards from a set you have without a good reason, such as correcting a mistake.

11.If we stop offering the service

  • Sets already downloaded keep playing in the app on that device.
  • If you have an account, we’ll email you at least 30 days beforehand, and send you a PDF copy of each set you’ve bought.

12.Our responsibility

  • We provide the app with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can’t be limited by law.
  • Otherwise, we aren’t responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for problems caused by your device or internet connection.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for sets in the 12 months before the claim.

13.Changes to these terms, and the law

  • We may update these terms. When we do, we change the “last updated” date. For important changes, we email account holders before the changes take effect.
  • The terms that applied when you bought a set continue to apply to that purchase.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, as applied in Dubai.
  • If something goes wrong, please contact us first. If we can’t resolve a dispute together, the courts of Dubai will handle it. This doesn’t affect any right you have to contact a consumer protection authority.
  • If you live outside the UAE, you also keep the protection of your own country’s consumer laws.
